Alan Wake 2: Developers Aim for Naughty Dog Status

Remedy Entertainment's ambition is to become a leading force in the gaming industry. Inspired by Naughty Dog, particularly their Uncharted series, Alan Wake 2 director Kyle Rowley stated their goal is to be "the European equivalent of that iconic studio," as revealed in a Behind The Voice podcast interview.

This influence is apparent in the cinematic approach to Quantum Break and, more significantly, Alan Wake 2. Rowley explicitly stated their aspiration to be "the European version of Naughty Dog."

Alan Wake 2's cinematic style, known for its stunning visuals and compelling narrative, clearly demonstrates this inspiration. The game's success has cemented Remedy's status as a top European developer.

Their aspirations extend beyond the horror genre. Naughty Dog's mastery of cinematic single-player experiences, exemplified by Uncharted and The Last of Us (the latter a highly-acclaimed franchise), serves as a clear benchmark.

Even over a year post-release, Alan Wake 2 continues to receive updates enhancing gameplay across all platforms. These improvements include significant optimizations for the PS5 Pro, introducing a "Balanced" graphics option that combines elements of the Performance and Quality modes.

These adjustments, along with minor graphical tweaks for smoother frame rates and reduced image noise, also address several minor gameplay bugs, particularly within the Lake House expansion.
