Elden Ring: Nightreign will omit the in-game messaging feature previously seen in FromSoftware titles. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision in a recent interview, citing the game's shorter play sessions. Nightreign matches last approximately forty minutes, leaving insufficient time for players to leave or read messages.
"Given the roughly forty-minute session length, there isn't enough time to send or read messages; hence, we removed the feature," Ishizaki stated.
This choice is noteworthy, considering the significant role messaging has played in past FromSoftware games, enhancing player interaction and enjoyment. However, the development team deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's design.
To maintain the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features a separate storyline. It provides a fresh adventure, introducing new challenges and encounters while retaining the distinctive atmosphere and complex world of Elden Ring.
