Will Wright, creator of The Sims, recently revealed more details about his new AI-powered life simulation game, Proxi, during a Twitch livestream. This innovative game, initially announced in 2018, focuses on interactive memories and promises a deeply personal gaming experience.
A Personalized Journey Through Memory
The livestream, hosted by BreakthroughT1D (an organization dedicated to type 1 diabetes research), provided a deeper look into Proxi's gameplay. Developed by Gallium Studio, Proxi allows players to input their real-life memories as text. The game then transforms these memories into animated scenes, which can be customized using in-game assets.
Each memory, referred to as a "mem," contributes to the development of the player's "mind world," a 3D hexagonal environment. As the mind world expands, it populates with Proxies—representations of the player's friends and family—creating a dynamic and evolving personal landscape.
Players can arrange memories on a timeline and connect them to different Proxies, reflecting the context and individuals involved in each memory. Remarkably, these Proxies can even be exported to other game worlds, such as Minecraft and Roblox!
Wright emphasized the game's goal: to create "magical connections with memories and bring them to life." He explained his focus on a highly personalized experience, stating, "I found myself getting continuously closer and closer to the player... the more I can make a game about you, the more you'll like it."
Proxi is now featured on Gallium Studio's website, with platform announcements expected soon.
