Freedom Wars Remastered: A Deep Dive into Weapon Types
Freedom Wars Remastered allows players to equip two weapons of their choice for each Operation, offering diverse strategic options. With six distinct weapon types available, players can tailor their character to any playstyle imaginable. The game features three gun types and three melee types, all highly customizable. Let's explore each weapon type and its unique characteristics:
Weapon Types in Freedom Wars Remastered
New weapons are acquired through Operations or purchased from Zakka in The Warren. While Comrades' weapons are pre-determined, players have complete freedom in equipping their Accessory with any weapon. Switching weapons frequently incurs no penalties.
Weapon Type | Traits |
---|---|
Light Melee | Quick attacks ideal for fast-paced combat, targeting single enemies. Can sever Abductor limbs without a Flare Knife. |
Heavy Melee | Wide-sweeping attacks inflict significant damage. Well-placed attacks can hit multiple Abductor limbs for multiplied damage. Charged attacks launch the player into the air. Slightly reduces movement speed. |
Polearm | Attacks involve charging through enemies, providing mobility and evasion. Charged attacks launch the polearm for high damage from a safe distance. |
Assault Weapons | High ammo capacity, perfect as a primary weapon for gun-focused builds. Can be fired while grappled with your Thorne for advantageous angles or safe-distance attacks. |
Portable Artillery | High single-shot damage with low ammo capacity. Explosive area-of-effect shots can hit multiple limbs for increased damage. Reduces movement speed. |
Autocannons | High rate of fire, large ammo capacity and magazine size. Individual shots have lower damage, but the high rate of fire compensates. Reduces movement speed. |
Unlike the player character, the Accessory's gun weapons have unlimited ammo. This strategic element adds another layer of depth to combat planning.
