The DOOM franchise's cross-platform compatibility continues to amaze. A recent feat showcases the game running on an unexpected platform: Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter. NyanSatan, a tech enthusiast, successfully executed this experiment.
The adapter, as NyanSatan explains, utilizes iOS-based firmware and a processor clocked at up to 168 MHz. The process involved accessing the adapter's firmware and then launching the game. Due to the adapter's lack of internal memory, a MacBook was used to facilitate the firmware transfer.
Meanwhile, news on a new DOOM iteration reveals a focus on accessibility. DOOM: The Dark Ages will allow players to adjust demon aggression in the game's settings. This commitment to accessibility extends to broader customization options than seen in previous id Software titles.
Executive producer Marty Stratton highlights the studio's goal of maximum accessibility. Players will have extensive control over enemy damage, difficulty, projectile speed, damage received, and other parameters such as game pace, aggression levels, and parry timing.
Stratton further clarifies that prior DOOM experience isn't required to understand the narratives of DOOM: The Dark Ages or its sequel, DOOM: Eternal.
