Mastering the Haunted Mirror in Phasmophobia: A Guide to Risk and Reward
The Haunted Mirror stands out among Phasmophobia's Cursed Possessions. Its benefits significantly outweigh the inherent risks, making it a valuable asset during investigations. This guide details its use and the associated risks.
The Haunted Mirror's primary function is to reveal the ghost's current preferred room. Upon interaction, it provides a panoramic view of this location, significantly accelerating your investigation. This is especially useful for players familiar with the map's layout, allowing for strategic equipment placement before the ghost's behavior escalates.
Its typical location is either on a wall (as seen in 6 Tanglewood Drive) or on the floor at a predetermined spot. While the spawn location is fixed for each map, the specific Cursed Object that appears is randomized.
To activate the mirror, simply pick it up and use the designated interaction button (mouse or controller). The reflection will display the ghost's favored area. However, remember that on Professional difficulty and above, the ghost's location can change over time.
Caution is advised. Prolonged observation depletes sanity. Holding the mirror for its full duration results in its shattering and triggers a Cursed Hunt at your exact position. Therefore, use it strategically with high sanity levels and a clear understanding of the reflected image.
Understanding Cursed Possessions in Phasmophobia
Unlike standard equipment, which aids in ghost detection and evidence gathering with minimal risk, Cursed Objects offer shortcuts and manipulative abilities, but at a considerable cost to your character's safety.
The risk associated with each object varies, leaving the decision of whether to use them entirely to the player(s). There's no penalty for ignoring them. Note that only one Cursed Possession spawns per contract (unless modified in custom settings).
Seven Cursed Objects exist within the game:
- Summoning Circle
- Haunted Mirror
- Voodoo Doll
- Music Box
- Tarot Cards
- Ouija Board
- Monkey Paw
