Overwatch 2 is making a grand return to China, bringing with it a host of rewards from Seasons 1 to 9, skins inspired by Chinese mythology, and much more. The Chinese Overwatch 2 community will be able to dive back into Future Earth on February 19, coinciding with the start of Season 15.
Recently, Overwatch 2 announced its exciting return to China. The game will officially relaunch on February 19, but a technical test from January 8 through 15 allowed fans to experience much of the content they missed, including Overwatch: Classic and all six heroes introduced since the servers closed in China during Season 2.
Following the successful technical test, Overwatch 2 has unveiled some of the thrilling content Chinese players can anticipate. According to a message from Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller on Xiaohongshu, also known as RedNote, a multi-week Return to China celebration will feature many of the most popular in-game events and rewards that fans have missed over the past two years. Additionally, all Chinese players will have the opportunity to earn Battle Pass rewards from Seasons 1 and 2 before the game's relaunch, and from Seasons 3 through 9 through in-game events once the game is back online.
Chinese Mythology – Theme for Overwatch 2 Season 15?
Keller also hinted that Overwatch 2 Season 15 will include skin bundles inspired by Chinese mythology. It's currently unclear whether these skins will be new or existing, if they will be exclusive to China, or if they might be part of a broader Chinese mythology theme for Season 15, similar to how Season 14's cosmetics were inspired by Norse mythology.
Fans worldwide won't have to wait long to find out more. Overwatch 2 Season 15 is scheduled to start on February 18, just before the game's official relaunch in China. With just over a month to go, players can expect to learn more about the upcoming season soon, with a full reveal likely in early February.
In the meantime, fans can participate in Min 1, Max 3 – the second 6v6 test in Overwatch 2 – from January 21 through February 4, with the classic 2-2-2 team composition available until then. The Lunar New Year and the Moth Meta Overwatch: Classic events are also set to occur before Season 15, offering plenty of excitement for players. While Chinese players may miss out on these events, they can look forward to their own special celebrations soon.
