Melpot Studio has released the first trailer for its upcoming figure skating simulation game, ICE on the Edge, launching on PC via Steam in 2026. This innovative game blends vibrant anime-inspired visuals with incredibly realistic skating choreography, developed in collaboration with professional figure skaters.
In ICE on the Edge, players become coaches, nurturing skaters' talents. Responsibilities include creating performance routines, selecting music, designing costumes, and choosing technical elements. The ultimate goal? Guide your athletes to victory at the prestigious fictional competition, "On the Edge." The game's choreography boasts input from renowned Japanese figure skater Akiko Suzuki, who also contributed to the anime series Medalist.
The developers embarked on this project with limited figure skating knowledge, but their dedication shines through. They immersed themselves in the sport's complexities, from mastering the differences between jumps to thoroughly understanding the scoring system, ensuring an authentic and immersive experience.
Combining anime artistry and realistic skating mechanics, ICE on the Edge promises to enthrall both gamers and figure skating fans.
