The developers behind the PvPvE action game Dungeonborne, which drew inspiration from the acclaimed Dark and Darker, have officially announced the cessation of support for the game and the impending closure of its servers. Launched with high hopes, the project unfortunately did not manage to maintain its player base, succumbing to dwindling player activity and a scarcity of meaningful updates within less than a year of its release.
While Dungeonborne's page remains visible on Steam, it has vanished from the platform's search results and can now only be accessed via a direct link. Although the developers have not officially stated the reasons behind the shutdown, it's evident that the game's critically low player numbers were a significant factor. Since the end of 2024, the game struggled to keep more than 200 concurrent players, with recent activity plummeting to a mere 10-15 players.
The servers for Dungeonborne are scheduled for permanent closure on May 28, marking the conclusive end to the game's journey. Initially, Dungeonborne garnered enthusiasm among fans of the genre, but it ultimately failed to fulfill its promise and will now quietly slip into obscurity.
