Bethesda and id Software showcased a new demo of DOOM: The Dark Ages during the Xbox showcase, confirming earlier rumors of a May 15th release date.
Transporting players to the medieval era, The Dark Ages offers a distinct gameplay experience compared to its predecessors. This iteration emphasizes a more grounded, powerful combat style, transforming the player into a relentless "killing machine" and a true tank. Unlike the frenetic parkour of DOOM: Eternal, The Dark Ages focuses on brutal, close-quarters combat. Players will spend less time airborne and more time utilizing a devastating arsenal to obliterate demons.
Central to this arsenal are a shield and mace, providing a visceral and impactful combat experience. For the first time in the DOOM franchise, players will command a giant mech, providing a significant advantage against smaller demons. Further enhancing the spectacle, players will even have the opportunity to ride a dragon during the campaign.
A flexible difficulty system allows players to tailor the challenge to their preferences, adjusting enemy damage, and other parameters to create a personalized experience.
