Assassin's Creed Shadows' March Release Date Confirmed
Ubisoft has announced a further delay for Assassin's Creed Shadows, pushing the release date back to March 20, 2025. Initially slated for a February 14th launch, this latest postponement adds another five weeks to the wait. The publisher cites the need for additional refinement and polishing, incorporating player feedback gathered since the game's previous delay.
The game's initial delay, announced in late September 2024, moved the launch from November 15th to February 14th. While the first postponement was attributed to development challenges related to historical accuracy, this second delay prioritizes player feedback. Marc-Alexis Coté, vice president and executive producer of the Assassin's Creed franchise, emphasized Ubisoft's dedication to delivering a high-quality, immersive experience through ongoing player-developer communication. Both delays, he stated, provide crucial time for refining and polishing the game.

Following the September announcement, Ubisoft offered pre-order refunds and free access to the first expansion for those who had pre-ordered. Whether similar incentives will accompany this shorter delay remains unannounced. The smaller timeframe may lessen player frustration compared to the previous three-month postponement.
This additional delay might also be linked to Ubisoft's internal investigation into its development practices, launched to enhance player focus and improve game quality. Delaying the game to incorporate fan feedback aligns with this initiative, aiming to deliver a more "player-centric" title. The company, while still a major player in the industry, recently reported record losses for the 2023 fiscal year, adding further context to this decision.
