Mattel163 is enhancing its popular mobile card games to promote inclusivity with a groundbreaking update: Beyond Colors. This feature makes UNO! Mobile, Phase 10: World Tour, and Skip-Bo Mobile more accessible to colorblind players.
What is Beyond Colors?
Beyond Colors addresses the needs of approximately 300 million colorblind individuals worldwide. Instead of relying solely on color, the update uses distinct shapes (squares, triangles, etc.) to represent card values, ensuring all players can easily differentiate between cards.
Activating Beyond Colors:
Enabling Beyond Colors is simple. In each game (Phase 10: World Tour, Skip-Bo Mobile, and UNO! Mobile), access your account settings via your avatar icon. Within the card theme options, select the Beyond Colors deck.
Collaboration and Accessibility:
Mattel163 collaborated with colorblind gamers and color vision deficiency experts to develop effective and user-friendly symbols. This initiative reflects Mattel's wider commitment to accessibility, aiming for 80% of its games to be colorblind-accessible by 2025. The development process explored various solutions, including patterns, tactile cues (though not applicable to mobile games), and symbols, ensuring color isn't the sole differentiator.
Consistency Across Games:
The shapes used in Beyond Colors are consistent across all three games. Mastering the system in one game means you'll easily navigate the others. Download UNO! Mobile, Phase 10: World Tour, and Skip-Bo Mobile from the Google Play Store to experience this inclusive update.
