A recent online video ingeniously transforms Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom into Super Mario Galaxy. Released in May 2023, Tears of the Kingdom, the sequel to 2017's Breath of the Wild, is the latest main installment in the renowned Zelda action-adventure series. Frequently compared to other Nintendo hits like Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and various Super Mario titles, this fan-made video highlights unexpected parallels.
A skilled gamer, Ultrababouin, created a Super Mario Galaxy-themed Tears of the Kingdom video, cleverly titled "Super Zelda Galaxy," posted on Reddit. The edit masterfully recreates scenes from the beloved 2007 Wii game, evoking a wave of nostalgia among viewers. The recreation of Super Mario Galaxy's opening—Mario waking up to a Luma on a small planet—is a particularly striking example.

Ultrababouin shared their impressive month-long project on the Hyrule Engineering subreddit, a community dedicated to Tears of the Kingdom in-game creations. The video was an entry in their June design contest. Ultrababouin's past contributions include a Tears of the Kingdom version of the Master Cycle Zero, earning them "Engineer of the Month" in December and February.
The Master Cycle Zero, a horse-shaped motorcycle from Breath of the Wild, is absent in Tears of the Kingdom. However, the new game's innovative build system allows players to construct vehicles and machines. This has led to incredible creations; one Hyrule Engineering member, ryt1314059, even built a functional aircraft carrier capable of launching a working bomber!
The next Zelda game, Echoes of Wisdom, launches September 26th. A significant departure, Echoes of Wisdom will feature Princess Zelda as the protagonist, instead of the series' usual hero, Link.
