To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is letting fans decide on its next official merchandise! Fans can choose from a mind-boggling 100 items, with the top two vote-getters slated for release within the next two years. The voting, currently only available on the official Japanese website, offers a fascinating range of options.
While some choices are more conventional, like a 20th-anniversary hoodie or a Yakuza-themed pencil case, many others draw inspiration from the series' famously eccentric history. These range from the bizarre to the downright hilarious.
Consider, for instance, the cult outfit worn by Munan Suzuki in Yakuza 0, the giant traffic cone from Yakuza Kiwami, or the intriguingly named "Puffy Gold Pants." Other options include Majima's sake cup from Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Akiyama's gold watch, Kiryu's fountain pen from Yakuza 6, Kashiwagi's tambourine from Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Kiryu's wrestling mask from Yakuza 3, and Saejima's prison uniform from Yakuza 4. The list goes on, brimming with memorable items from the series' rich history.
2025 will see at least one new Yakuza title released, with Like a Dragon: Pirate of the Caribbean launching on February 21st. While the studio hasn't yet announced any anniversary-related projects on the scale of Yakuza 0's release for the 10th anniversary, it's certainly a possibility given their prolific output.
This prolific output is no surprise, considering RGG Studio's impressive track record. In just the last five years, they've released Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Judgment Remastered, Lost Judgment, Like a Dragon: Ishin, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, and Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, alongside two Super Monkey Ball games and an enhanced remaster of Virtua Fighter 5—a total of nine games!
