Fans of the narrative-driven vampire game Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will have to wait a bit longer as the game has been hit with another delay, now set to release in October 2025. This latest delay, announced in a recent game update video by publisher Paradox Interactive and developer The Chinese Room, comes just a few months after the previously planned release in the first half of 2025. Despite the delay, there's a silver lining: the game is now complete.
"The status of the game right now is that the game is done," stated Marco Behrmann, the Executive Producer of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. "We are currently focusing on bug fixing, stability, and performance so that we can deliver the best experience to you guys once it releases." This news brings some relief to fans who have been eagerly awaiting the sequel to the 2004 cult-classic video game.
While the delay is another setback in a long line of postponements, the update video did highlight some positive developments. The Chinese Room has added more content, increased narrative depth, and enhanced character development since the last major update. Additionally, players can look forward to an "evolved role" for the character Fabien in the storyline. However, fans should note that updates on the game's progress will be less frequent going forward, as announced on the official Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 X/Twitter page.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has faced numerous challenges since its announcement in 2019. Originally set to launch in Q1 2020 by developer Hardsuit Labs, the game experienced multiple delays, pushing the release first to late 2020, then to 2021. Amid further delays and layoffs at Hardsuit in March 2021, the development was eventually handed over to The Chinese Room in 2023, aiming for a 2024 release. Now, after another delay, the game is slated for an October 2025 release.
With the game now complete and the focus on polishing its final touches, there's hope that Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will finally sink its teeth into players this fall. The Chinese Room seems confident in their current progress. Looking ahead, Paradox Interactive has hinted that, should Bloodlines 2 achieve a successful release, a different team will take on the development of Bloodlines 3.
