Ubisoft appears to be grappling with a series of unfortunate events surrounding its unannounced game, Project U. Gameplay leaks first surfaced in 2022, shortly after the closed beta testing phase began, and these leaks have re-emerged two years later, indicating that the project is still in active development. Recently, following what seems to be a reboot of the game's development, an introductory cinematic has leaked online.
The origin and authenticity of the cinematic remain unconfirmed officially. It was shared by blogger Shaun Weber, who is known for leaking gaming content. Weber suggested that more videos from Project U could surface if the game continues to be in development for an extended period.
Project U is anticipated to be a session-based cooperative shooter, taking inspiration from the success of Helldivers 2. According to the leaked footage, the game's narrative centers around an alien machine invasion of Earth, with players assuming the roles of chosen individuals tasked with combating this extraterrestrial threat.
As of now, Ubisoft has yet to provide any official statement regarding the formal announcement of Project U.
