TouchArcade Rating:
August is over, and with it, the Young Avengers season in Marvel Snap (Free). A new season, themed around everyone's favorite web-slinger, has begun! Get ready for the Amazing Spider-Season! While Bonesaw might be absent this time, exciting new cards and locations await. Let's dive in!
This season introduces a game-changing card mechanic: Activate. Unlike "On Reveal," Activate abilities let you choose when to trigger their effects, offering strategic advantages and bypassing certain counter-strategies. The Season Pass card perfectly showcases this new mechanic. Check out Second Dinner's season reveal video below for a full look:
The Season Pass card, Symbiote Spider-Man, is a 4-Cost, 6-Power powerhouse. His Activate ability lets him absorb the lowest-cost card at his location and copy its effect, even retriggering On Reveal abilities. Prepare for chaotic combos, especially with Galactus! This card's power might lead to a mid-season nerf, but for now, it's incredibly fun.
Here's a look at the other additions:
-
Silver Sable: A 1-Cost, 1-Power card with an On Reveal ability that steals 2 Power from the top card of your opponent's deck. A solid card on its own, but even better in specific deck builds.
-
Madame Web: This Ongoing ability card lets you move one card at her location to another location once per turn.
-
Arana: Another 1-Cost, 1-Power card with an Activate ability. Activating her moves your next played card to the right and boosts its Power by +2. Expect to see this card in many movement-focused decks.
-
Scarlet Spider (Ben Reilly): A 4-Cost, 5-Power card with an Activate ability that creates an identical clone at another location. Amplify his power, then duplicate it!
Two new locations join the fray:
-
Brooklyn Bridge: A classic Spider-Man location with a twist – you can't play cards there two turns in a row, demanding creative strategies.
-
Otto's Lab: This location mimics Otto Octavius himself. The next card you play here pulls a card from your opponent's hand onto the location. Expect some surprises!
This season brings exciting new cards and the innovative Activate mechanic, creating many intriguing gameplay possibilities.
