Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Receives Final Major Update, Ending Live Service Support
Rocksteady Studios has released the final major content update for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, marking the end of its live service run. Season 4 Episode 8, titled "Balance," is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. This follows the December 9th, 2024 announcement that support for the game would cease on January 14th, 2025, less than a year after its launch.
Despite initial high expectations, the game's reception was largely negative, attributed by many to its unexpected live-service model. The decision to end support after only 10 months on the market wasn't surprising to many. However, Rocksteady assures players that all online features will remain accessible, allowing continued co-op gameplay.
Season 4 Episode 8 introduces significant new content, including:
- Libra Infamy Set: A high-risk, high-reward set inspired by the DC super-villain Libra, manipulating enemy damage output.
- Notorious Weapons: New powerful weapons such as The Silencer's Complete Silence (with a devastating alt-fire), Doctor Sivana's Magic Bullets (piercing and electrifying enemies), and Chronos' Equilibrium (bonus damage based on missing shield).
- New Mayhem Mission: The final battle against Brainiac.
- Gameplay Improvements: Reduced XP requirements for Squad Levels (with retroactive rewards), and adjustments to Deathstroke's Suicide Strike.
- Numerous Bug Fixes: Addressing a wide range of issues across gameplay, UI, audio, and more (see detailed patch notes below).
The December 2024 Season 4 Episode 7 update introduced offline play, allowing players to experience the main campaign and seasonal missions without an internet connection. While Rocksteady hasn't announced a server shutdown, this offline mode ensures continued accessibility even if servers are eventually taken offline.
For those who haven't played, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is currently available on PlayStation Plus until February 3rd.
