Chapters 2 through 5 each contain three Side Stories, totaling twelve. These optional detours include quirky scenarios like transforming into pigs or participating in a deadly game show. Completing all twelve unlocks an achievement, so let's explore their locations:
Chapter 2
- Legend of the Sandfish: This Side Story appears naturally after completing the "Rush Hour" section; it's impossible to miss.
- Farmlife: Located in the "Streets of Neon" section, after hopping a small barrier and before reaching the elevators on the left.
- Mountain Hike: Found in "Big City Life." Reach the Port-A-Potties, have Mio enter one, and use Zoe to throw her to the opposite ledge with a ladder. Have Mio drop the ladder for access.
Chapter 3
- Train Heist: In "Lord Evergreen," locate this Side Story on a ledge accessible via wall-running while navigating the water with a plank.
- Gameshow: Found in "Walking Sticks of Doom," on a platform after a side-scrolling section, requiring minor platforming to reach.
- Collapsing Star: Located in "Halls of Ice," this Side Story is on the main path, making it hard to miss.
Chapter 4
- Kites: Found at the end of the long tube in the "Toxic Tumblers" section.
- Moon Market: In "Test Chamber," after the crane sequence, this Side Story is on a ledge to the left, reachable with some platforming.
- Notebook: The final Chapter 4 Side Story, located in "Soaring Desperados." After acquiring the jetpack, avoid the giant wheel and hover to the left side of the room.
Chapter 5
- Slopes of War: In "Water Temple," solve the lever puzzle to the left after crossing the golden balls (post-dragon hatching).
- Space Escape: Found in "Craft Temple," after defeating the dragon. Launch Mio to the ledge using her glide and Zoe's roll, then have Mio drop a column for Zoe to climb.
- Birthday Cake: Located in "Treasure Temple," after completing the soul puzzle, it's to your left.
Completing all twelve Side Stories unlocks the "Bookworms" achievement.
