Sony's popular PlayStation console themes for PS5 are disappearing! The limited-time PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4 themes will be unavailable after January 31, 2025. However, Sony has confirmed their return in the coming months, offering a glimmer of hope for nostalgic PS5 users who enjoyed the classic boot-up sounds and visuals.
Sony expressed gratitude for the overwhelmingly positive reception to the themes, stating they are working to bring them back. The tweet announcing this news also included a picture of the themes:

Unfortunately, despite the positive response, Sony clarified that there are currently no plans to release additional themes beyond these four classic console designs. This announcement disappointed many fans who hoped for more theme options on the PS5, a feature present in previous generations.
The temporary themes, released to celebrate PlayStation's 30th anniversary on December 3rd, 2024, offered immersive nostalgia. Each theme recreated the distinct visual style and audio cues of its respective console generation: PSOne's console image, PS2's menu design, PS3's wave background, and PS4's similar wave patterns.
