EA and Maxis are celebrating the 25th anniversary of The Sims franchise with an exciting surprise. Today, fans can once again enjoy The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 on PC through the newly released Legacy Collections and The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle.
EA has announced the launch of The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection, available separately or combined in The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle for $40. These collections include all expansions and nearly all stuff packs. Notably, The Sims 2: Legacy Collection is missing the IKEA Home Stuff pack from 2008, but both collections offer additional bonus content. The Sims 1 includes the Throwback Fit Kit, while The Sims 2 comes with the Grunge Revival Kit alongside other add-ons.
EA's re-release of these classic games marks the first time in over a decade that both titles have been readily available. The Sims 1, originally only available on disc, has been out of reach for many unless they could find an old physical copy compatible with modern Windows machines. The Sims 2 was last available in 2014 as part of the Ultimate Collection on EA's Origin store, but that was discontinued. Now, with these new collections, all four The Sims games are easily accessible and playable through digital storefronts.
Originally, we awarded The Sims 1 a 9.5/10 and The Sims 2 an 8.5/10. Despite the series' advancements, the original games remain worth exploring for their charm, simplicity, challenge, and historical significance.
The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection are now available on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and through the EA app.
