Shrek 5 has unveiled its all-new cast along with a brand-new teaser trailer, leaving even Movie Sonic puzzled by Shrek's updated appearance.
In a humorous video shared on TikTok, the Sonic Movie account offered "advice for green ogres," showcasing Movie Sonic's transformation from his initially criticized live-action design to a much-improved version that was revealed months later.

IGN was the first to showcase the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie back in 2018, and the response was notably mixed. Fans were particularly vocal about Sonic's teeth, physique, small eyes, and oddly human-like fingers.
In response to the backlash, director Jeff Fowler opted to revise the controversial design, committing to a more authentic representation of the beloved character. The revamped design was widely better received.
Although the feedback on Shrek's new look isn't as divisive as Sonic's initial live-action debut, Sonic's playful reaction has still entertained his fanbase.
"You know it's bad when you see the Sonic Movie account giving Shrek 5 advice," remarked one commenter, while another expressed disbelief, saying: "No way they actually posted this" accompanied by a crying emoji.
The fifth installment of the Shrek franchise was first announced in 2016, but remained dormant until Chris Meledandri, CEO of Illumination, confirmed its active development in 2023, alongside plans for a Donkey spin-off. Universal Pictures has shifted Shrek 5's release to December 23, 2026, and moved the Despicable 3 spin-off, Minions 3, into its former slot.
