Troubleshooting "Serialization Error Action Needed" in Ready or Not
1. Verify Game Files:
This is the first troubleshooting step. Ensure Steam isn't in offline mode.
- Locate Ready or Not in your Steam Library.
- Right-click, select "Properties," then "Local Files," and finally "Verify Integrity of Game Files."
- Steam will scan and replace any corrupted or missing files. Retry launching the game. If successful, the issue is resolved.
2. Remove Mods:
Outdated or incompatible mods, especially those not updated for Unreal Engine 5 (UE5), are a frequent cause.
- In your Steam Library, right-click Ready or Not, select "Manage," then "Browse Local Files."
- Navigate to
ReadyorNot\Content\Paks
. - Delete the
mod.io
folder. This will disable all mods.
3. Reinstall Mods (One by One):
After removing mods, reinstall them individually to identify the culprit.
- Check the mod's update date on Nexus Mods, Mod.io, or your source.
- Mods updated after July 2024 (when Ready or Not transitioned to UE5) are more likely to be compatible.
- Install one mod, test the game. Repeat, installing one mod at a time. If the error returns, the last installed mod is the problem. Incompatible mods will need to be avoided until updated.
4. Reinstall Ready or Not:
If all else fails, a clean reinstall of Ready or Not might be necessary. While less common, hard drive corruption could also be a factor. However, outdated mods are the most frequent cause of this error.
Ready or Not is available on PC.
