Midjiwan Studios has released a major update for The Battle of Polytopia, completely revamping the Aquarion tribe, originally introduced in 2017. This update brings significant changes to the gameplay experience.
Aquarion's Aquatic Transformation
The Aquarion units now sport mermaid tails, granting them amphibious capabilities. They move effortlessly across water but are slower on land. This update also introduces flooded terrain, allowing land and naval units to occupy the same space for the first time.
The Aquarion's aquatic theme extends to their buildings. Structures can now be built on water, with Lost Cities nestled within deep-sea ruins, providing ideal strategic locations. A new structure, the Atoll, connects water cities, eliminating the need for roads. Aqua Crops, permanently added to the Aquarion's resources, function similarly to land-based crops.
New aquatic units join the fray: Sharks for surprise attacks, Puffers for long-range bombardments, and Jellies that use electric shocks. Returning favorites, the Tridentions and Crabs, are also enhanced; Crabs now flood the tiles they traverse, synergizing with the mermaid-tailed units.
