Pokémon TCG Pocket's trading feature, despite high player demand, has had a less-than-stellar launch. Player feedback has led developers to announce a rework of the trading system.
As a temporary measure, 1000 Trade Tokens are being gifted to all players via the in-game Gifts menu. Trade Tokens are an in-game currency previously required for card trades. This giveaway aims to alleviate player frustration while the trading system undergoes revisions.
The developers previously stated their intent to simplify trading and currency acquisition. Many players criticized the trading restrictions, specifically the rarity limitations on tradable cards and the necessity of Trade Tokens.
Reworking the Trade System
The initial design choices regarding trading seem questionable. A completely open trading system or the complete omission of trading altogether might have avoided the current controversy. While botting and exploitation are valid concerns, the implemented restrictions likely proved only a minor hurdle for determined players.
The upcoming trading system rework is crucial. A well-implemented digital trading system could significantly enhance Pokémon TCG Pocket's appeal as a viable alternative to the physical card game.
