Pokémon Sleep Development Transitioned to Pokémon Works
Select Button, the original developer of Pokémon Sleep, is transferring development responsibilities to Pokémon Works, a newly established Pokémon subsidiary. This change was recently announced.
Pokémon Works Takes the Reins
The Pokémon Company formed Pokémon Works earlier this year. Now, eight months later, this new subsidiary assumes control of Pokémon Sleep's ongoing development and future updates, taking over from Select Button.
An in-app announcement (via machine translation) confirmed the shift in development and operational management from Select Button to Pokémon Works. The impact on the global version of Pokémon Sleep is currently unclear, as the news isn't yet reflected in the global app's news section.
Pokémon Works' portfolio remains relatively unknown. However, their website states that the company is a collaborative venture between The Pokémon Company and Iruka Co., Ltd. Interestingly, Pokémon Works shares a Tokyo location with ILCA, known for their work on Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and as a co-developer of Pokémon HOME – a project Pokémon Works also contributed to.
Their stated goal is to "create an experience that makes Pokémon more real... so that everyone can enjoy meeting and adventuring with Pokémon." The specifics of how this vision will shape the future of Pokémon Sleep remain to be seen.
