Path of Exile 2's endgame presents a significant challenge. To ease the transition, developers have strategically placed easily-missed encounters within the main campaign. These encounters offer permanent stat boosts, extra passive skill points, and weapon skill points. One such encounter, the Sisters of Garukhan, provides a valuable +10% Lightning Resistance buff. This guide explains how to locate and activate this crucial encounter.
Where To Find the Sisters of Garukhan
The Sisters of Garukhan encounter appears twice: once in Act 2 and again in Act 2 Cruel. Locating this shrine grants a +10% Lightning Resistance bonus each time. Its understated icon on the world map makes it easy to miss.
Due to PoE 2's randomly generated maps, there's no guaranteed location within the Spires of Deshar. However, diligent exploration will reveal a shrine resembling the image above. Interacting with it awards the buff, but be prepared for combat; nearby automatons will activate and attack. Activating the shrine triggers all automatons on the map.
A helpful strategy: if you reach a checkpoint near the exit before finding the shrine, fast travel back to that checkpoint for easier access.
Claiming the +10% Lightning Resistance Buff
The +10% Lightning Resistance is applied immediately upon interacting with the shrine. It's not a dropped item or a reward for defeating the automatons; activating the shrine grants the buff instantly.
Remember, this encounter is repeatable in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Activating it twice yields a total of +20% Lightning Resistance.
Troubleshooting: Why Isn't My Lightning Resistance Increasing?
Many players are puzzled when their resistance values remain negative despite activating the Sisters of Garukhan. This is because PoE 2 applies a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances after each Act (Chaos Resistance is unaffected).
Therefore, after completing Act 1, the initial +10% from the Sisters of Garukhan in Act 2 nets a zero effect. In Act 2 Cruel, the -40% debuff from completing Act 2 and Act 1 is partially offset to -30% after activating the shrine again.
To verify the buff's activation, remove all equipment in the endgame. A -40% elemental resistance indicates you haven't missed the encounter.
