Palworld's latest update, version 0.5.0, introduces a host of exciting new features, including crossplay across all platforms. This update allows players to store Pal data in the Global Palbox and transfer Pals between worlds, enhancing the game's connectivity and flexibility. A new storage system, the Dimensional Pal Storage, offers 10 times the capacity of the regular Palbox. This system can be accessed by guild members and also used as personal storage with private settings, providing players with more options for managing their Pals and resources.
In addition to these storage enhancements, players can now change their character's appearance without affecting armor stats through the new Cosmetic Armour System. This feature, accessible via the Antique Dresser, allows for greater customization and personalization. The update also introduces a Photo Mode, which can be accessed from the Pal Command Wheel, enabling players to take stunning screenshots by hiding the UI and moving the camera freely.
Further enriching the gameplay experience, the Drafting Table allows players to combine low-rarity blueprints to create higher-rarity ones, adding a new layer of strategy to base building. Dedicated servers for Mac have also been added, ensuring a smoother experience for Mac users.
Since its early access launch in January 2024, Palworld has attracted an impressive 32 million players. Developer Pocketpair has outlined a content roadmap for 2025, promising an "ending scenario" and more new content for this popular creature-catching survival game. Palworld initially launched on Steam for $30 and was simultaneously available on Game Pass for Xbox and PC, breaking sales and concurrent player number records. The game's success led Pocketpair to form Palworld Entertainment with Sony, aiming to expand the IP and bring the game to PS5.
However, the game's success has not been without challenges. Pocketpair is currently facing a lawsuit from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, who allege that Palworld has infringed on "multiple" patent rights. In response, Pocketpair has adjusted how players summon Pals and is prepared to defend its position in court.
