Nexon has announced the global shutdown of KartRider: Drift, the mobile, console, and PC racing game launched in January 2023. The game will cease operation globally later this year across all platforms.
However, the Asian servers (Taiwan and South Korea) will remain operational. Nexon plans to revamp the Asian version, though specifics regarding the changes and any potential future relaunch of the global version remain undisclosed. The exact date of the global shutdown is also yet to be announced, and the game is currently still available on the Google Play Store.
The decision to shut down the global version stems from ongoing challenges. Despite efforts to deliver a smooth player experience, the game faced significant hurdles. Player feedback cited excessive automation, leading to repetitive gameplay, alongside technical issues like poor optimization on certain Android devices and numerous bugs. These factors ultimately contributed to the game not meeting expectations, prompting Nexon to refocus their efforts on the Korean and Taiwanese PC versions, aiming for a more successful iteration.
