Hashino, when discussing future projects, expressed a strong interest in developing a game set during Japan's Sengoku period. He envisions this historical setting as ideal for a new Japanese role-playing game, potentially drawing inspiration from the Basara series.
Currently, there are no concrete plans to create a Metaphor: ReFantazio sequel, according to Hashino. His focus remains on completing the current project, which he originally conceived as a third major JRPG series alongside Persona and Shin Megami Tensei, aiming for it to become a flagship Atlus title.
While a direct sequel is unlikely, Hashino and his team are already developing their next game. However, an anime adaptation of Metaphor: ReFantazio is being considered. The game itself has already achieved significant success, marking Atlus's most successful multi-platform launch to date.
Metaphor: ReFantazio's peak concurrent player count surpassed 85,961, significantly outperforming Persona 5 Royal (35,474 players) and Persona 3 Reload (45,002 players). The game is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
