Marvel Rivals Backtracks On Their Player Rank Reset
Dev Talk 11 Updates on Seasonal Rank Adjustments
In response to widespread fan feedback, Marvel Rivals has reversed its decision on mid-season player rank resets. The official Marvel Rivals Twitter (X) account announced this change in their latest update, Dev Talk 11, which directly addresses the concerns raised after Dev Talk 10.
Previously, the game had planned to reset player ranks every 45 days, causing players to drop four divisions. This approach was met with significant criticism from the community, who felt it was demotivating, especially for those striving to advance through the ranks.
With the new update, Marvel Rivals has confirmed that there will be no mid-season rank resets. Players will now keep their scores and ranks from the first half of the season. However, the end-of-season rank reset will still occur, with players dropping six divisions.
Human Torch, The Thing, And Other Updates Still On The Way
Despite the reversal on mid-season rank resets, Marvel Rivals continues to roll out exciting updates. The much-anticipated addition of Human Torch and The Thing to the roster is still on track, bringing the total number of heroes to 39. NetEase Games has committed to introducing two new playable characters each season, with each season spanning three months.
Rewards for players reaching Gold rank and above remain unchanged. Those who achieve Gold rank or higher will receive a free Invisible Woman costume, while players ranked Grandmaster and above will be awarded Crests of Honor. At the end of the season, new rewards will be available for those reaching Gold rank, including another free costume and additional Crests of Honor for Grandmaster and above.
While balance adjustments are expected following the mid-season update, specific details on these changes have not yet been disclosed.
Marvel Rivals Community Support
The swift response from Marvel Rivals to the community's backlash highlights their commitment to player satisfaction. Just hours after the initial announcement in Dev Talk 10, the team released Dev Talk 11 to address the concerns directly.
Marvel Rivals emphasized their dedication to the community, stating, "We strive to make Marvel Rivals the best game it can be, and the community is the driving force behind this mission! [...] Your engagement and support mean the world to us, and we're excited to continue this journey together!"
The next Marvel Rivals mid-season update is scheduled for February 21, 2025. The game is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay updated with the latest news and developments by visiting our Marvel Rivals page.
