League of Legends is bringing back Hextech Chests following extensive fan feedback. Dive into the details of the upcoming update and discover what lies ahead for LoL enthusiasts.
League of Legends Reverses Unpopular Changes
Hextech Chests Make a Comeback
League of Legends (LoL) is set to reintroduce Hextech Chests after hearing from its community. Riot Games shared a comprehensive developer update on their website dated February 27, 2025, and complemented it with a detailed video on their YouTube channel.Acknowledging recent changes that didn't resonate well with fans, LoL's developers stated, "Recently, we’ve made a number of changes that didn’t hit the mark for everyone. We’ve been listening to your feedback, and it’s clear that there are areas where we need to adjust."
The community's attachment to Hextech Chests was a key point of feedback, with LoL admitting, "It’s clear that for many of you, Hextech Chests weren’t just a way to get stuff, they were an important part of making your time in League feel rewarding. We didn’t fully grasp how much this mattered to you, and that led us to make changes that missed the mark."
Starting with patch 25.05, Hextech Chests will return, allowing players to earn up to 10 chests and keys per act. Eight of these will be available through the free pass, with the remaining two accessible via the Honor system.
Exalted Mordekaiser Delayed and Additional Fan-Driven Changes
Riot Games has also announced a delay for the Exalted Mordekaiser skin, aiming to "take more time to make sure it better delivers on its core fantasy." This delay affects the entire Exalted skin line, meaning fans won't see a new skin in every Act as initially planned.
Responding to further fan feedback, LoL will replace one of the non-Prestige skins with 25 Mythic Essence, addressing concerns about the scarcity of Mythic Essence on the paid Pass and the overabundance of champion skins for each seasonal theme.
In response to discussions about blue essence and champion shards, LoL will reduce the Blue Essence cost for all champions by 50% starting with patch 25.05.
Another reversal concerns Clash, where the game will revert to its monthly schedule. LoL confirmed, "March’s Clash event will be ARURF, then we’ll run a regular SR Clash in April."
Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop Return
In response to fan requests, LoL is bringing back the Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop. Your Shop is scheduled to return in patch 25.06, with the Emporium following in 25.07.
Riot Games emphasized their commitment to continuous improvement, stating, "We know getting League to the right place isn’t about just one set of changes. It’s about continually refining and improving the game in ways that make it better. We think today’s updates are an important step, and we’ll keep tracking how these changes feel, talking with all of you about how things are landing, and making adjustments."
With this responsive approach, Riot Games demonstrates a dedication to listening to their community, ensuring League of Legends remains enjoyable and rewarding for its players. The game is available for free-to-play on PC. Stay updated with the latest League of Legends news on our dedicated page.
