The popular mobile beat 'em up ARPG, King of Fighters ALLSTAR, is shutting down on October 30th, 2024. This announcement, made via Netmarble's official channels, comes as a surprise given the game's six-year run and numerous high-profile collaborations.
In-app purchases have already been disabled. According to Netmarble, a contributing factor to the closure is the depletion of characters available for adaptation from the King of Fighters franchise, although this is likely not the sole reason.
What's Next?
The closure of King of Fighters ALLSTAR sadly continues a trend of long-running mobile live-service games ending this year. This highlights the challenges of sustaining these titles, even within the thriving mobile gaming market.
