In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, the side quest "Bad Blood" offers a deep dive into the game's rich narrative and character interactions. Here’s a detailed guide on how to start and complete this intriguing quest.
How to Start Bad Blood in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
To initiate the "Bad Blood" quest, you need to progress in the game until you're tasked with finding Mutt. During this quest, you'll visit a clearing near Bozhena’s hut where Henry suggests checking in with Bozhena. Head to her hut and inquire about Mutt. Bozhena will reveal that her daughter Pavlena is missing, prompting you to help, which adds the "Bad Blood" quest to your journal.
Gather Information
Start by visiting Troskowitz and speaking with Baliff Thrush. Then, engage with Innkeeper Betty at the local tavern to gather more details about Bozhena and Pavlena, including the reasons they were ostracized from the village. Next, head to the designated area to converse with the woodcutters. Seek out Woodcutter Dushko, who will guide you to Roman’s house. Remember to save your game before attempting to lockpick the door to Roman’s house. Inside, examine Pavlena’s basket and then speak with Dushko again to learn about a favorite spot of the couple near Roman’s house.
Search the Scene
From Roman’s house, follow the objective marker down the hill towards the stream and turn left at the two large boulders. You'll discover a trail of blood leading to Roman’s dead body. Continue your investigation by speaking with Hogherd Hugo and then return to Troskowitz to converse with Hired Hand Straw. Successfully passing a dialogue check with Straw will reveal crucial details about Jakesh and the true events involving Roman and Pavlena. Additionally, consult with Thrush about Straw's fate. Continue your investigation at the rocks just south of Zhelejov.
Confront Ota
Navigate the objective area to find a path behind a large boulder. Climb the ladder to encounter Ota and Pavlena. With sufficient Charisma, select these dialogue options to persuade Ota to release Pavlena: “What’s your name?”, “Let her go and I’ll let you go,” and “I’ll put in a good word for you with His Lordship.” Once Pavlena is freed, she will kill Ota. After the confrontation, accompany Pavlena back to Bozhena, who will then request you to deal with Jakesh.
Kill Jakesh or Make Peace
The final decision in the quest is whether to eliminate Jakesh or facilitate peace between him and Bozhena. Locate Jakesh at his child’s grave. You can choose to kill him, negotiate a peaceful resolution, or even kill Bozhena. The quest concludes with your chosen action. In my experience, killing Jakesh and informing Bozhena led to a rewarding outcome.
Should You Kill Jakesh?
Killing Jakesh will negatively impact your reputation in Troskowitz but significantly boost your standing with Bozhena and Pavlena. You'll also unlock new dialogue with Pavlena and receive a necklace, a memento from Roman. On the other hand, sparing Jakesh and brokering peace will earn you 100 groschen from him. When reporting back to Bozhena, you can either keep the money or share it, allowing Bozhena and Pavlena to reintegrate into the community.
