Hyper Light Breaker boasts a diverse arsenal of weapons, and crafting a truly effective build hinges on securing a solid selection. While you begin with basic equipment, exploration unlocks weapons tailored to your preferred playstyle.
Blending roguelike and extraction game elements, Hyper Light Breaker offers a unique approach to weapon acquisition. Here’s how to expand your arsenal:
Where to Find New Weapons in Hyper Light Breaker

The most direct path to new gear lies in exploring Overgrowths. While exploring naturally yields loot, focusing on sword (Blades) or pistol (Rails) icons on the map significantly increases your chances of finding weapons.
Blades are melee weapons, each boasting unique movesets and special abilities. Rails, on the other hand, are ranged weapons with diverse functionalities. Both weapon types come in varying rarities, with gold representing the most powerful and desirable options. Rarity directly correlates with stats, as expected in loot-driven games.
To save any discovered weapon for later use, press the Cache button instead of Equip. This sends it to your personal stash, allowing you to equip it for future runs by adjusting your loadout before embarking on a new adventure.
Acquiring New Starting Weapons

Beyond discovering weapons during runs, you can purchase new starting equipment from merchants at the Cursed Outpost. Initially, only the Blades merchant is available; the Rails merchant requires repairing their shop using gathered materials.
Merchants have limited stock, but their inventories refresh over time. If you don't find what you're looking for immediately, check back later.
Weapon Upgrades

Upgrade your equipment at the Outpost merchants, but first, you must unlock the upgrade function by increasing your affinity with the merchants. This requires Golden Rations, a rare resource obtained through exploration or cycle resets. Use Golden Rations strategically, as they are difficult to acquire.
Remember, equipped weapons lose durability (represented by a bar under their icons) upon death, eventually breaking after repeated failures.
