Take-Two Interactive Reiterates Fall 2025 Release Window for Grand Theft Auto 6
Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar Games' parent company, has reaffirmed its commitment to a Fall 2025 release for Grand Theft Auto 6 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This confirmation comes following the release of their third-quarter financial report (ending December 31, 2024). While acknowledging the inherent risk of delays in game development, CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed confidence in the targeted release window.
Zelnick, in an interview with IGN, stated that while slippage is always a possibility, Take-Two is optimistic about meeting the Fall 2025 deadline. He emphasized Rockstar's dedication to achieving perfection and the intense competition within the gaming industry.
The anticipated release of GTA 6 has created significant buzz, influencing the strategies of competing publishers. EA CEO Andrew Wilson recently indicated a potential delay for the next Battlefield installment, hinting at the impact GTA 6's release date might have on the market.
Despite the confirmed release window, the highly anticipated second trailer for GTA 6 remains unreleased, fueling fan speculation. IGN has compiled additional coverage on GTA 6, including insights from a former Rockstar developer regarding potential delays, Zelnick's comments on a potential PC release, and expert analysis on the PS5 Pro's potential performance with the game.
Take-Two also highlighted the continued success of its other titles. Grand Theft Auto 5 has achieved staggering sales figures, surpassing 210 million units sold worldwide. GTA Online experienced a strong quarter, boosted by the Agents of Sabotage update, and GTA+ memberships saw a 10% year-over-year increase. Red Dead Redemption 2 has sold over 70 million copies and is currently experiencing record concurrent player numbers on Steam.
Take-Two's 2025 release slate is packed, including Civilization VII, PGA Tour 2K25, WWE 2K25, Mafia: The Old Country, and Borderlands 4. The company expressed strong confidence in the commercial success of its upcoming titles and predicted record-breaking net bookings for fiscal years 2026 and 2027.
