Genshin Impact Leak Hints at Wriothesley Rerun in Version 5.4
A recent leak suggests Wriothesley's highly anticipated return in Genshin Impact Version 5.4, over a year after his initial release. This news comes amidst ongoing challenges in balancing character rerun schedules due to the game's ever-expanding roster of over 90 playable characters and limited banner slots.
The current system, even with the introduction of the Chronicled Banner, struggles to provide equitable rerun opportunities. While intended to address this issue, the Chronicled Banner hasn't fully solved the problem, as evidenced by Shenhe's extended wait time. Until triple banners become a reality, players can expect extended waits between character reruns.
Wriothesley, a Cryo Catalyst introduced in Version 4.1, is a prime example of this scheduling imbalance. His unique Cryo hypercarry capabilities and Burnmelt team synergy make him a highly sought-after character, yet he's been absent from Event Banners since November 8, 2023. The leak, originating from Flying Flame, indicates his return in Version 5.4.
While Flying Flame's track record is mixed, particularly concerning Natlan leaks, this rumor gains credibility considering the recent Spiral Abyss buffs that benefit Wriothesley's playstyle.
Version 5.4 is also anticipated to introduce Mizuki, potentially Inazuma's first Standard Banner character. If the leak proves accurate, and Mizuki and Wriothesley share an Event Banner, the second 5-star could be either Furina or Venti, given their consistent rerun pattern among Archons. Version 5.4 is slated for a February 12, 2025 launch. Players should, however, approach this information with cautious optimism.
