Get Ready to Race! Two F-Zero GBA Classics Join Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack!
Nintendo has announced the addition of two classic Game Boy Advance racing games to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack: F-Zero Climax and F-Zero: GP Legend!
Launching October 11, 2024
Fans of high-speed futuristic racing can look forward to experiencing these titles, with F-Zero Climax finally making its way out of Japan.
The F-Zero series, a cornerstone of Nintendo's racing legacy, debuted in Japan over 30 years ago (1990). Its innovative gameplay and stunning visuals for its time helped define the genre and even influenced competitors like SEGA's Daytona USA. Known for its blistering speed and challenging tracks, F-Zero has always pushed the boundaries of console technology.
Like Mario Kart, F-Zero features intense races where players must navigate treacherous courses, outmaneuver opponents, and skillfully pilot their powerful "F-Zero machines." The series' iconic hero, Captain Falcon, even made his mark in the Super Smash Bros. series.
F-Zero: GP Legend, initially released in Japan in 2003 and internationally in 2004, will be joined by the long-awaited F-Zero Climax, a Japan-exclusive title from 2004. This marks the first time F-Zero Climax will be available outside of Japan, and it’s a significant addition, being the last dedicated F-Zero game before last year's F-Zero 99. In past interviews, F-Zero designer Takaya Imamura cited the immense popularity of Mario Kart as a factor contributing to the series' relative dormancy.
This October 2024 update to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack will allow subscribers to experience the thrill of F-Zero Climax and F-Zero: GP Legend, competing in Grand Prix, story mode, and various time trials.
Prepare for high-octane action!
