The official description highlights:
Civilization VII - VR brings the world of Civilization to life as never before. The game world unfolds on a Command Table, allowing players to zoom in for detailed views of units and buildings or take a strategic overview. Players interact directly with world leaders, forging alliances or declaring war across the ages.
The game supports both immersive VR and mixed reality modes, seamlessly switching between them. VR players are immersed in a museum setting, while mixed reality adapts the Command Table to the player's physical space. Detailed dioramas showcasing gameplay achievements are available in The Archives, accessible in both VR and mixed reality. Online multiplayer allows up to four players to compete for global domination.
The PC and console versions of Civilization VII, currently available via early access, have received mixed player feedback on Steam, citing UI issues, limited map variety, and missing features.
Firaxis has acknowledged this criticism and pledged improvements, including UI refinements, the addition of cooperative teams to multiplayer, and a broader range of map types.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, in an interview with IGN, addressed the negative reviews, expressing confidence that the core Civilization fanbase will appreciate the game with further playtime and describing its initial performance as "very encouraging."
