Final Fantasy XVI director Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P) has politely requested fans avoid creating or using "offensive or inappropriate" mods for the PC release.
Final Fantasy XVI PC Launch: September 17
Yoshi-P's Plea for Respectful Modding
In a recent PC Gamer interview, Yoshi-P addressed the upcoming PC release of Final Fantasy XVI, urging players to refrain from creating or installing mods deemed "offensive or inappropriate." While the interviewer inquired about potentially humorous mods, Yoshi-P prioritized setting clear boundaries regarding unacceptable content.
He stated, "If we said 'It'd be great if someone made xyz,' it might come across as a request, so I'll avoid mentioning any specifics here! The only thing I will say is that we definitely don't want to see anything offensive or inappropriate, so please don't make or install anything like that."
Given Yoshi-P's experience with previous Final Fantasy titles, his request likely stems from encountering problematic mods in the past. Online modding communities, such as Nexusmods and Steam, host a wide variety of mods, ranging from graphical enhancements to cosmetic alterations. However, some mods cross the line into NSFW or offensive territory. While Yoshi-P didn't specify examples, mods featuring explicit content clearly fall under the "offensive or inappropriate" category.
Final Fantasy XVI's PC release boasts enhanced features, including a 240fps frame rate cap and various upscaling technologies. Yoshi-P's request simply aims to maintain a respectful and positive community environment for this milestone release.
