In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Hans's main quest, "For Whom the Bell Tolls," requires crafting a Fever Tonic to help someone at Trosky Castle. Here's how to obtain the recipe and brew the tonic:
Locating the Fever Tonic Recipe:
The recipe is found within the Surgeon's Workshop in Trosky Castle. Access can be gained in two ways:
- Stealth: Sneak into the workshop.
- Diplomacy: Persuade the chamberlain you can create a digestive potion for his stomach ailment. Success grants access to the workshop. If your persuasion fails, steal some food, give it to a guard blocking another kitchen entrance, then sneak to the workshop.
If you choose the diplomatic route, after delivering the horseshoe for the main quest, speak to Cook Fanka. Offer to help with her locked chest to gain entry to the noble's kitchen and find the ailing chamberlain.
Once inside the Surgeon's Workshop (through either method), locate the physician's journal on the bookshelf. Read it to find the Fever Tonic recipe.
Brewing the Fever Tonic:
The necessary herbs are already on the surgeon's station. Follow these steps:
- Pour wine into the cauldron.
- Add 3 handfuls of Feverfew.
- Lower the heat and boil for 2 turns of the sandglass.
- Grind a handful of Elderberry Leaves.
- Add the ground Elderberry Leaves.
- Add 2 handfuls of Ginger.
- Take a phial from the bottom-left shelf.
- Distill the tonic using the Still.
Additional herbs are available in a chest in the room if needed.
Completing the Quest:
After brewing the Fever Tonic, deliver it to Thomas. If you gained the chamberlain's trust by crafting a digestive potion, return with both potions. Otherwise, use the kitchen to reach the chapel and find Thomas and his sister, Adele. Speak with Adele to conclude the quest.
