In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, you primarily play as the Wanderer, striving for peace. Your journey offers significant story choices, often with companions joining you in battle. These companions fight alongside you, but you can temporarily control them. Their power often surpasses the Wanderer's, making switching a strategic advantage. Here's how:
Character Switching in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Companion control is limited to battles where a companion is present. Before a battle, the companion selection is the last option in the pre-battle menu. You can choose to fight alone, but companion switching isn't available then. Once the battle starts, your companion's health bar appears below yours in the bottom right.
Below the health bar is a blue meter, similar to your Musou gauge. This fills by:
- Parrying attacks
- Perfect dodging
- Attacking officers
- Utilizing Weapon Arts
Most combat actions contribute, though at varying speeds.
A full blue meter activates the "Change Character" button. Press and hold this button (View on Xbox, C on PC, Touchpad on PlayStation) for a second to switch.
Playing as Companions in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Switching characters mid-battle is recommended, as companions are exceptionally strong. Control lasts roughly a minute, indicated by the slowly depleting blue meter. Your new character starts with full Bravery and a range of effective combat arts.
The character switch initiates with a powerful attack; aim carefully. The companion also has a full Musou gauge and health bar, allowing immediate use of their special attack.
