This isn't Dragon Age. The Veilguard's success is undeniable, yet unsettling news regarding BioWare has emerged.
Rumors recently spread online, originating from sources described as “agenda fighters,” claiming BioWare Edmonton's closure and the departure of Dragon Age: The Veilguard's game director.
Eurogamer journalists, however, seem to confirm at least part of this information—Corinne Boucher's departure from BioWare in the coming weeks. Boucher, an 18-year EA veteran, primarily worked on the Sims franchise.
Eurogamer remains uncertain about the alleged shutdown of The Veilguard's development team, classifying this as speculation.
Critical reception of The Veilguard is mixed. Some hail it as a masterpiece and a return to form for BioWare, while others consider it a solid RPG with flaws, lacking true greatness.
At the time of writing, Metacritic shows no negative reviews. Many reviewers praise the dynamic and engaging action RPG gameplay, particularly challenging at higher difficulty levels.
However, dissenting opinions exist. VGC, for example, criticizes The Veilguard's gameplay as feeling outdated, lacking innovation or originality.
