Doctor Doom 2099 is a 4-cost, 2-power card with a unique ability: "After each turn, add a DoomBot 2099 to a random location if you played (exactly) 1 card."

DoomBot 2099 (also a 4-cost, 2-power card) has the ability: “Ongoing: Your other DoomBots and Doom have +1 Power.” Crucially, this buff applies to both DoomBot 2099s and regular Doctor Doom cards.

The strategy revolves around playing precisely one card per turn. Early deployment of Doctor Doom 2099 maximizes DoomBot 2099 spawns, significantly boosting power. A well-timed Doctor Doom on the final turn further amplifies this effect.

Optimally utilized, Doctor Doom 2099 functions as a 17-power card (or more with early plays or Magik). However, two drawbacks exist: DoomBot 2099 placement is random, potentially hindering your strategy, and Enchantress completely negates the DoomBot 2099 power boost.

Doctor Doom 2099's one-card-per-turn requirement revitalizes Spectrum Ongoing decks. Consider this budget-friendly option:

Ant-Man, Goose, Psylocke, Captain America, Cosmo, Electro, Doom 2099, Wong, Klaw, Doctor Doom, Spectrum, Onslaught [Untapped Deck Link]

This deck offers flexibility. Early Doom 2099 plays synergize with Psylocke, Wong, Klaw, and Doctor Doom for widespread power distribution. Alternatively, an Electro-centric strategy utilizes Onslaught and Spectrum for powerful late-game plays. Cosmo counters Enchantress, protecting key cards.

Another viable option is a Patriot-style deck:

Ant-Man, Zabu, Dazzler, Mister Sinister, Patriot, Brood, Doom 2099, Super Skrull, Iron Lad, Blue Marvel, Doctor Doom, Spectrum [Untapped Deck Link]

This budget-friendly deck leverages Patriot's power-boosting ability, complemented by Mister Sinister and Brood. Zabu discounts 4-cost cards, ensuring early-game momentum. Super Skrull provides a counter to opposing Doom 2099 decks, a likely meta staple. Flexibility is key; occasionally skipping a DoomBot 2099 spawn allows for more powerful final-turn plays. However, this deck remains vulnerable to Enchantress.

Is Doctor Doom 2099 Worth the Investment?

While Daken and Miek (released alongside Doctor Doom 2099) are relatively weak, Doctor Doom 2099's power and deck-building versatility make him a worthwhile acquisition. Use Collector's Tokens if available, as he is poised to become a meta-defining card. Unless nerfed, Doctor Doom 2099 will undoubtedly be remembered as one of Marvel Snap's best cards.
