Forza Horizon 4 to be Removed from Digital Stores on December 15, 2024
The popular open-world racing game, Forza Horizon 4, will be delisted from major digital platforms on December 15, 2024. This means players will no longer be able to purchase the game or its additional content digitally after that date.
Launched in 2018, Forza Horizon 4, set in a fictionalized UK, quickly became a beloved Xbox title, boasting over 24 million players by November 2020. Despite previous assurances from developer Playground Games, the game's removal is due to expiring licenses for in-game content.
The delisting will affect the Microsoft Store, Steam, and Xbox Game Pass. All DLC will be unavailable for purchase starting June 25, 2024; only the standard, deluxe, and ultimate editions will remain purchasable until the December 15 deadline.
Forza Horizon 4's Final Series and Post-Delisting Access
The game's final series, Series 77, runs from July 25 to August 22, 2024. While the playlist screen will become inaccessible after this period, players can still participate in daily and weekly challenges and Forzathon Live events via the Forza Events screen.
Existing players, whether owning digital or physical copies, can continue playing without interruption. Game Pass subscribers with active, paid subscriptions who own DLC will receive a game token to maintain access.
Discounts and Farewell
The delisting of Forza Horizon 4, while unfortunate for many fans, is common for racing games due to the limited lifespan of music and vehicle licenses. This mirrors the fate of previous Forza Horizon titles. Players interested in purchasing the game before delisting can take advantage of an 80% Steam discount (currently available) and an upcoming Xbox Store sale on August 14.
