A new Death Note game is coming! Rated for PS5 and PS4 in Taiwan, Death Note: Killer Within hints at a wider release.
Bandai Namco's Potential Involvement
The Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee's listing suggests Bandai Namco, known for its anime game adaptations (Dragon Ball, Naruto), may be the publisher. While details are scarce, the rating suggests an official announcement is imminent. This follows June's trademark registrations by Shueisha (Death Note's publisher) in several countries. While initially listed as "Death Note: Shadow Mission" by the rating board, the English title is confirmed as Death Note: Killer Within. However, the listing may have since been removed from the website.
A New Chapter in Death Note Gaming
Plot details remain secret, but fans anticipate a suspenseful experience mirroring the source material. Will it focus on Light and L's rivalry, or introduce new characters and storylines? Previous Death Note games, like the 2007 Nintendo DS title Death Note: Kira Game, were point-and-click deduction games. Sequels and spin-offs followed a similar formula, but largely targeted Japanese audiences. Killer Within could be the franchise's first major global release.
