Koei Tecmo unveils a new trailer for Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation PRISM, a romance game spin-off of their popular fighting game franchise.
Launching March 27th on PS5, PS4, and PC, the game features a special Asian "global version" with English text support. Players can enjoy mini-games, customize character appearances, and bask in the tropical island setting. The developers promise diverse relationship-building mechanics and an immersive romantic storyline.
Venus Vacation PRISM represents a departure for Dead or Alive fans, offering a unique gameplay experience while retaining the series' distinctive style.
However, even this venture highlights the ongoing challenge of balancing fan creativity with intellectual property rights. Koei Tecmo annually removes approximately 200-300 doujinshi and 2,000-3,000 images of Dead or Alive characters, reflecting the publisher's efforts to manage unauthorized "adult" fan content featuring their beloved heroines, despite the popularity of such fan art. The Dead or Alive series is known for its gameplay and its attractive female characters, often depicted in swimwear during combat.
