Slaying monsters is exhilarating, but sometimes you need their parts, and that means capturing them. Here's how to capture monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Capturing Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds
The process is straightforward. Weaken the monster, trap it, then use a tranquilizer item to secure the capture. Simple, right?
Your Palico will alert you when a monster is weak. Other indicators include a skull icon above the monster on your minimap, and the monster itself will show signs of weakness like limping or drooling.
Once weak, deploy a Shock Trap or Pitfall Trap. Lure the monster onto it. Once trapped, quickly throw one or two Tranq Bombs. Alternatively, craft Tranq Ammo or Tranq Blades depending on your weapon and playstyle.
Capturing the monster ends the quest, returning you to Base Camp.
Obtaining Traps and Tranquilizer Items
While your Palico might occasionally set traps, it's best to bring your own. There are two trap types: Pitfall Traps (Trap Tool + Net [Spiderwebs or Ivy]) and Shock Traps (Trap Tool + Thunderbug Capacitor).
For tranquilizer items, craft Tranq Bombs using a Sleep Herb and a Parashroom. These can be combined with Throwing Knives (Tranq Blades) or Normal Ammo (Tranq Ammo).
