Tentacle Tactics
Nu Udra presents a formidable challenge due to its extensive reach, courtesy of its massive tentacles. While these make dodging tricky, they also offer the closest point of attack for melee fighters. Severing its arms yields valuable materials, but proceed with caution—these limbs pack a powerful punch.
Target the Mouth
Ranged weapon users have more strategic options, but the mouth remains the optimal target, boasting a 4-star weakness. While its almost entirely black hide makes it difficult to spot, focusing on the mouth is key. The head is another viable target, offering a 3-star weakness to ammo damage and remains effective for blunt and cut damage.
Harness the Power of Watermoss
Nu Udra's fire affinity necessitates strategic countermeasures. Beyond its limb attacks, it unleashes fiery assaults, even setting itself ablaze at times, inflicting the dangerous Fireblight debuff. Counter this by strategically deploying Watermoss to create a safe window for attack.
Embrace Fire Resistance
For a smoother hunt, equip fire-resistant gear. The Quematrice armor set, with its Fire Resistance skill, is highly recommended. Consider also using decorations that reduce elemental damage, such as the Fire Res Jewel or the Stream Jewel (for increased Water Attack damage).
Evade the Grab Attack
Nu Udra's grab attack is particularly perilous. If caught too close, it will ensnare you with its tentacles, followed by a fiery blast. During the brief pause after the grab, use a knife to break free, or use your Slinger to attack its weak point.

Capturing the Black Flame

To capture Nu Udra, prepare either a Pitfall or Shock Trap. However, deployment requires weakening the monster to near death (indicated by a skull icon next to its health bar). Lure it into the trap using meat or simply run behind it as it targets you. Once trapped, swiftly use a Tranquilizer—you have approximately five seconds before it breaks free.
This comprehensive guide equips you to defeat and capture Nu Udra. While a solo hunt is challenging, don't hesitate to enlist the aid of multiplayer for a smoother victory.
