Capcom Eager to Re-release Classic
At Evo 2024, Capcom showcased three of the seven titles featured in Marvel vs Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, a comprehensive bundle encompassing six cornerstone games from the beloved Versus franchise. This collection includes Marvel vs Capcom 2, extensively regarded as one of the greatest fighting games of all time. During the event, IGN had the opportunity to interview Capcom producer Shuhei Matsumoto, who shared insights into the company's commitment to the Versus franchise and the expansive journey to bring this collection to fruition.
Matsumoto disclosed that the collection has been in development for approximately three to four years, emphasizing the dedication and effort required to realize this project. The journey commenced with thorough discussions with Marvel, which initially delayed the release. However, the collaboration has been remarkably positive, with both companies driven to present these classic games to contemporary audiences. "We've been planning for approximately three, four years to make this project a reality," Matsumoto stated. This dedication demonstrates Capcom's commitment to its fans and the enduring legacy of the Versus franchise.
